As the leader in technical career education in Southeastern New England, New England Tech is a private, non-profit technical college offering Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees in over 30 programs. Each one has been thoughtfully designed with input from both educators and industry experts. The focus at New England Tech is to give each student a solid balance: a base of analytical skills with hands-on training. Most of our Associate's Degree programs can be completed in as little as 18 months and our Bachelor's Degree programs in as little as 3 years. Today, enrollment has grown to 3,000 students.
The heart and soul of these programs are the teachers. Faculty members have been chosen for their exceptional talent, expertise and practical experience. Equip them with the latest technology and resources, and it's no wonder our students enter the job market so well prepared. Many of our programs maintain individual accreditation. For example, our Electronics Engineering Technology program at the Bachelor's level is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Automotive Technology (Associate in Science Degree)
The Automotive Technology Program provides in-depth study and application of the most up-to-date trends in the automotive field. New England Tech's automotive program is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). New England Tech's automotive facility is a Regional Training Center for the National Alternative Fuels Training program.
The Automotive Technology Department offers two automotive Associate's Degree programs: Automotive Technology (Evenings) and Advanced Automotive Technology (Days). While both programs cover the same topics, the Advanced Automotive Technology degree includes more in-depth study.
Students learn the design, theory of operation, and servicing techniques of the many systems and system components of today's automobiles. Training in engine construction and design, engine repair, electricity, electronics, suspension, steering, brakes, transmissions, fuel systems, ignition systems, and emission controls is provided to assure maximum coverage. Advanced training in air conditioning, drive trains, and trans axles is offered as well. A final engine performance class covers computerized engine controls, fuel injection systems, tailpipe emissions diagnosis, and ABS braking systems. NEIT uses the latest industry standards, up-to-date diagnostic equipment, and Automotive Service Excellence-approved curriculum in its training program.
New England Institute of Technology offers Advanced High Performance Program in conjunction with the Automotive Technology program. The Advanced High Performance Program educates students on developing horsepower and torque by means of bolt-on performance accessories, powertrain modifications, custom powertrain tuning, and suspension tuning.
Students will have the ability to make modifications and measure horsepower improvements on New England Tech owned vehicles or to their own vehicles on our new Chassis Dynamometer. Students will also be able to measure horsepower and torque changes produced by the addition and modification to various components, perform custom dyno-tuning on engine and transmission related components, and obtain the skills and experience necessary in developing reliable horsepower. This is largely a hands-on class where students will hone their skills through practice and testing.
These intensive programs in Automotive Technology prepare the student for their new careers. They are trained for entry-to-industry level employment and are technically capable offering the skills needed for rapid advancement. After completing some prerequisites in both Automotive Technology and Advanced Automotive Technology, graduates are eligible to continue on for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Automotive Service Management Technology or Business Management Technology. Students can earn their Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or Advanced Automotive Technology in as little as 18 months.
Automotive Collision Repair Technology (Associate in Science Degree)
The associate in science degree program in Automotive Collision Repair Technology offers an in-depth study of all aspects of auto body technology, collision repair, and refinishing. Students are provided theory and practice in sheet metal repair and replacement, repair of body damage, frames and unibody, glass installation, and paint refinishing techniques.
Students also learn the aspects of automotive technology, which are most useful for a thorough understanding of auto body and collision repair (such as brakes, suspension, heating, and air conditioning).
Graduates are ready to enter a range of technician positions in the auto body field. In addition, after completing some prerequisites, they are eligible to continue on for a Bachelor of Science in Business Management Technology.
After completing some prerequisites, graduates of this program are eligible to continue on for a Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Service Management Technology or in Business Management Technology.
